Nakheel, part of Dubai Holding's innovative real estate division, Dubai Holding Real Estate, has awarded an AED 810 million contract for marine works on Palm Jebel Ali to Jan De Nul Dredging LTD. As a member of the renowned Jan De Nul Group, the company will undertake dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement, which are crucial for constructing villas across all fronds.

With mobilisation activities already in progress, Jan De Nul Dredging aims to complete the entire marine works at Palm Jebel Ali in just over two years. Notably, the first eight fronds of the project are expected to be site-ready by the first quarter of 2025, allowing villa infrastructure and civil works to begin.

Following Nakheel's recent award of two major infrastructure contracts, construction has also started on a new public access road connecting to Sheikh Zayed Road, along with roadway and lighting enhancements from the mainland to Palm Jebel Ali.

Unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Palm Jebel Ali will provide an extensive range of luxury lifestyle amenities for residents, families, and visitors. The project supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and represents the beginning of a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area, highlighting the emirate's expansion.

Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, commented: “Partnering with Jan De Nul Dredging reflects our strong commitment to excellence and innovation. As Nakheel accelerates its development activities under Dubai Holding, Jan De Nul Dredging's expertise in marine, civil construction, and environmental projects is crucial to advancing this transformative development. Aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan vision, Palm Jebel Ali is set to become a global destination, offering residents a luxurious waterfront lifestyle with extensive beachfronts and pristine waters, while setting new benchmarks in quality living and sustainability.”

Last year, Palm Jebel Ali launched over 700 units of its Phase 1 frond villas, featuring eight unique styles that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living in a tranquil coastal setting. Progress on infrastructure and marine works directly supports the delivery of these homes, slated for handover in late 2026, and furthers Palm Jebel Ali's vision as a premier residential and leisure destination. The island will ultimately cover 13.4 kilometres, with 16 fronds and 91 kilometres of beachfront, in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan's objective to expand public beach access.

Nakheel’s developments are a key part of an iconic portfolio of master communities and residential projects that are essential to achieving Dubai’s vision.
