Sometimes, my gums bleed. I believe this is due to my use of a hard brush. I went for a dental visit a few months ago and my teeth were fine for a couple of months. However, after that, my gums began to bleed again. The doctor has given me a paste to apply. Please advise.

For bleeding gums, mix cinnamon powder and honey together, then apply to the problem area. The treatment should help. However, I'd definitely recommend following the treatment your doctor has prescribed too.

I am 29 years old. I started losing hair around 4-5 years ago due to neglect. However, last year, my mother bought me some herbal oil, which has now become part of my regular hair care routine. I noticed that my hair started growing again, although at an extremely slow rate. In fact, I have a bald patch on the upper part of my head and not much hair at the front. I am still using oil, but need something that will help increase my hair growth rapidly. Please suggest something you think will give the best result. I have dandruff and an itchy scalp, but it's not very severe.

I would suggest you continue with the herbal oil your mum bought. You may also try this treatment: take 4 drops of tea tree oil, 4 drops of rosemary oil and 1 tablespoon of almond oil. Mix this well and massage it into your scalp. Leave on overnight and wash off the next day. Do this twice a week and use the herbal oil once a week. It is important to drink a minimum of 8-9 glasses of water daily and maintain a healthy nutritional diet.

I am a 40-year-old male from India. I live in the UAE and am a regular reader of your column. I used to be very fair but, for last two years, have been noticing that my face is becoming darker than the rest of my body. I do not go out in the sun. Can you please give me a homemade remedy so that I can regain my facial fairness?

For a natural skin brightening home remedy, mix coconut milk with corn flour and apply it to your face for an hour daily. This will benefit your skin and lighten it.

The colour of my lips is normal; however, they have wrinkles. What should I do to remove them? Please advise.

It's important to always keep the skin nourished. Apply a thin film of vitamin E or even almond oil on dry lips to keep them moisturised. If using lipstick, make sure you coat the lips with oil first, before applying the lipstick.

I have been reading your articles every week for the past six months and have begun using some of your remedies, which have proved quite effective. For the past year, I've been struggling with pimples on my face, although I've had a clear face since my teenage years. I'm also suffering from hair loss. My doctor has said this is due to hormonal changes and some gynaecology-related issues. I've been using your remedy of tomato juice mixed with honey and oats powder, which has worked very well. However, the pimple marks are not going. I would appreciate it if you could give me a remedy to get rid of these marks.

Scars left by pimples can be lightened. Take a few drops of potato juice and add an equal proportion of vitamin E oil. Apply this over your dark spots and leave on overnight. Continue using the tomato juice, honey and oats treatment. Your skin will soon brighten and glow. I am glad you were happy with the tomato mask.
