The holy month of Ramadan begins in less than 30 days so UAE stores are offering discounts up to 70 percent to prepare for expected increased purchases.
Experts noted that sales increase during Ramadan since many people choose to buy big-ticket items to benefit from available discounts. People tend to increase their spending during this period because there are multiple big gatherings throughout the month of giving.
Major UAE retailers that include hypermarkets and electronics stores along with home furnishing firms and automobile distributors have unveiled significant discount offers.The holy month will start around March 1 depending on when the crescent moon is sighted.
Price freeze, big discounts
Union Coop from Dubai began its 2025 Ramadan promotion on Thursday which supports the UAE's "Year of the Community" initiative by providing up to 60 per cent discounts on over 5,000 food and non-food products available in-store and online for Ramadan.
According to Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop the campaign that began in February will showcase 12 promotions with competitively priced products.
The retailer has locked prices on over 200 essential products including rice, meat, poultry, canned foods and other high-demand items for Ramadan.The organization partners with over 42 UAE-based farms to deliver fresh organic produce which supports local agriculture.
