How UAE farmer makes 50,000 flowers bloom at same time

Emirati farmer Mohammed Obaid Al Mazrouei turned his ten-year flower passion into a successful farm that displays more than 25 imported flower types among its 50,000 total blooms.
Since opening to the public in 2020 the farm has earned recognition for its magnificent flower display while being situated in Ras Al Khaimah's Aisima area. Al Mazrouei plans to manufacture lavender oil and distinctive floral products from local sources in upcoming years. A high school student first dreamed of developing his own flower farm more than ten years ago.
His interest drove him to study flower farms online and during a European trip he collected seeds to plant in UAE gardens which thrived before he began importing seeds from the US and various European countries.
No one believed flowers could grow in the UAE at first but his relentless determination led him to successfully cultivate rare and unique flowering species.
His farm now features over 25 imported flower types and he intends to start seed production for local distribution from these blooms. Available flower varieties encompass Snapdragon, Salvia, Stock and Mexican sunflower among other species.
Al Mazrouei brought distinctive Swiss flower breeds to his farm this season and anticipates their success in future cultivation. His most significant achievement came from the lavender he planted last season which survived the summer heat and entered its second blooming period.
Al Mazrouei envisions local production of lavender oil which serves as a versatile base for perfumes and personal care products including soaps and shampoos. The farm operates daily from 7.30am to 6.30pm but on Fridays it remains closed until after the Friday prayers.
Each visitor must pay Dh15 for entry but children under three years and disabled persons receive free admission. School students are also granted free admission.
Al Mazrouei began his agricultural business with an agricultural nursery that supplied seedlings to other farms and grew vegetables for several years. His father taught him about farming since he was little and this knowledge became his agricultural foundation.
After focusing mainly on flowers he will establish a farm in Bosnia to grow approximately 10,000 lavender plants under the UAE name in Europe.
Al Mazrouei struggled to find the best planting time for each flower variety because different types needed two months to bloom while other types required less time. Correct timing allows all flowers to reach full bloom at the same time.
The farm owner hosts visitors from across the region who frequently return after marveling at its stunning beauty multiple times throughout the year.
The farm receives constant praise from visitors who describe it as an alternate world due to its stunning flower views which create a peaceful atmosphere for families and children. Kids can enjoy horse rides while visitors explore diverse bird species and peacocks plus relax in a snug café at the farm.
The farm enters a dormant phase during summer until September when soil preparation takes place through fertilization and irrigation before October planting initiates.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi who leads Ras Al Khaimah and serves on the Supreme Council honored Al Mazrouei for his accomplishments. Municipal and tourism departments issued free permits to assist his farm operations.
