An Emirates flight scheduled to fly to Dubai was returned to its gates after smoke was detected before take-off.

An Emirates flight scheduled to fly to Dubai was returned to its gates after smoke was detected before take-off.

Passengers on the EK176 flight from St Petersburg to Dubai flight were removed from the plane and safety inspections were made, according to media reports.

In a statement to press Emirates confirmed the incident  and said the safety of passengers and cabin crew “will not be compromised”.

Smoke Detected on Emirates Dubai Flight

Data from aviation website Flightradar24 later showed a delayed Boeing 777 aircraft departed from St. Petersburg to Dubai and was expected to land at around 11.30am, following a delay of around five hours.

The Emirates statement said passengers were reboarded after a delay and confirmed the aircraft departed.

Emirates said: “Flight EK176 from St Petersburg to Dubai on June 30, 2023 returned to the stand due to reports of smoke being detected during pushback for departure.

“As a precaution, all passengers and crew were disembarked while the aircraft was attended by local authorities and fire services.

“Passengers were reboarded after inspections were completed and the aircraft departed with a delay.

“We apologise for the inconvenience. The safety of our passengers and cabin crew is of utmost importance and it will not be compromised.”
