Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi to unveil major expansion on April 4

Miral has stated that its most recent expansion of Yas Waterworld on Yas Island will open to guests from April 4, 2026 一 a major boost for the capital's expanding leisure and tourism sector.

The expansion is the latest installment in the theme park’s “Lost City” narrative, a story-driven attraction that became its main draw when The Legend of the Lost Pearl debuted. The development features eight slides, two jumping platforms and a lounging pool, bringing the total number of attractions at the park to more than 70.

Miral Chief Portfolio Officer Jonathan Brown called the expansion a major milestone. “The new expansion of Yas Waterworld is another significant step in our promise to continue delivering world-class entertainment experiences on Yas Island,” he said. “With 11 new slides and attractions, we’re elevating the park’s offering with exhilarating thrills and immersive adventures for all ages.”

Among the highlights will be Matamir’s Drop, which will be the UAE’s tallest waterslide with a fall from more than 40 metres and slide run of 233 metres. Other standouts include Sahel Matamir, a free-fall tube racer built to provide bursts of speed and moments void of gravity.

Thrill-seekers can also ride Matamir Loop, a high-speed body slide while Matamir Twist – Matamir Lights joins sharp drops with immersive lighting effects. For competitive visitors, there's the Matamir Splash side-by-side duelling mat racer experience.

New for 2023, the expansion also adds family-friendly and relaxation-focused attractions to the mix, along with rides that will send you soaring. For example, Sarab is a large leisure pool that offers guests a relaxing environment, and Al Afda includes a jump platform for guests to dive into the water below.

It represents a continued effort to the ongoing drive to establish Yas Island as one of the world's premier locations for entertainment and leisure, as Abu Dhabi continues to enhance its positioning in the international tourism sector.

Combining adventure, storytelling and innovation, the newest additions at Yas Waterworld are a new chapter in the evolution of the waterpark experience offering guests an ever-increasing variety of experiences.
