US‑Israel war with Iran Day 12: What UAE residents need to know

The UAE has sought global action over Iran’s missile and drone strikes, which it says are violations of international law. Dubai released safety instructions for emergency calls, assuring residents that the emirate continues to be fully functional. UAE airlines have also resumed limited operations, asking travelers to fly only with confirmed bookings and check for flight updates.

Global action on Iran missiles, drones called for by UAE

The UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, Jamal Al Musharakh, addressed journalists along with members of the UAE's Accredited Correspondents at the United Nations (ACANU), discussing Iran's unprovoked aggression against the UAE.

He firmly denounced the Iranian missile and drone attacks directed against UAE and the countries of the region, moving on to reaffirm that these behaviours are a blatant breach of sovereignty, international law and UN Charter.

The UAE continues to provide these briefings with its partners in Geneva and from New York, maintaining close contact with the United Nations, humanitarian agencies and international organisations about developments on the ground and their impact not only on regional stability but also operations for humanitarian assistance.

Dubai Publishes Safety Guide for Alert Notifications

Dubai is safe and functioning as normal, but residents and visitors should heed emergency alerts if ever issued, the Dubai Government Media Office said on Sunday in a public safety guide.

The intent is to provide some calm and safe response from the public when alerts come on people’s mobile phones, which come via the Ministry of Interior.

How UAE flights stay in the air via safe passage corridors

Flights to and from the UAE have continued to operate through what aviation authorities describe as safe air corridors, even as restrictions linked to geopolitical tensions affect large parts of regional airspace. The corridors enable aircraft to proceed through identified segments of airspace that aviation authorities have deemed safe enough for limited flight operations.

The system was implemented throughout the Gulf on account of coordinated decisions by aviation authorities in the region to keep vital air traffic flowing while strict controls were being maintained for safety.
