UAE announces Term 2 grade calculation rules

UAE: MoE announces Term-2 grades for government school students will be based on assessments, projects, assignments

Each private school will find the right way to hold the second semester, evaluate students, and implement the approved academic policies; each one of them should be by its own plan. Schools must notify students and parents of the selected evaluation method, according to the authority.

The news comes after the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research -- separate entities -- announced that spring break had been moved up for all schools and universities.

Spring break is now set for Monday, March 9, through Sunday, March 22, authorities said. The ruling applies to all government and private schools, universities covering students, teaching staff and administrative personnel.

The 2025–2026 academic calendar had classes currently ending on March 13 for some schools and holidays from March 16 to March 29, with the new semester resuming on March 30. But now, amid this regional conflict and security concerns, the authorities have decided to begin the spring holidays in advance.

The UAE earlier announced distance learning would continue until Friday, March 6 as the authorities continued to monitor the regional security situation. Classes had previously been moved online March 2, the Monday before the first day of the Iranian offensive, through Wednesday, March 4, after an announcement was made on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The transition to online classes is a cautionary step amid regional tensions, especially after Iran launched missile and drone strikes on Gulf states including the UAE following last week’s escalation with the US and Israel.

CBSE had on Tuesday postponed Class 10 and 12 Board Exams in Middle East regions. Exams in schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE due to take place on Thursday March 5 and Friday March 6 have been postponed.

In a circular released on Tuesday, the board said, “After a critical review of the current situation in some parts of Middle East — Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE (United Arab Emirates) — the Board has decided to postpone examination for Thursday 5th March 2026 Friday 6th March 2026 for both Class X and Class XII. The new dates will be announced at a later stage.' The Board will then reassess the situation on Thursday, 5th March 2026 and will make necessary decisions regarding examinations that are scheduled to happen after 7th March.
