Sharjah announces fines for vehicles still displaying National Day stickers

Every motorist is obliged to pull the National Day celebration stickers down by Saturday (December 6), Sharjah Police said.

Motorists, who have not removed the stickers from their vehicles is hours after the deadline will be subject to violations, according to an advisory issued by the Sharjah Police General Command.

The authority said that the announcement was made after 106 vehicles and nine motorcycles were seized during the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, for committing serious traffic violations that put road users at risk.

Police said the offences were that of excessive noise, annoyance or cause distress, and dangerous and reckless driving. Drivers were also found to be operating without the proper licence.

"One trend that has emerged with the residents this year is a simplifying of the look, where their cars are concerned," decorators said. There was a rush to customisation shops as citizens searched for new ways to display their pride before the official Eid Al Etihad weekend.
