More travellers arriving than leaving Dubai, says GDRFA chief

Dubai: Since entrance to Dubai outnumber departures, the emirate’s position as a global destination for living, working and permanence could not be doubted, a top official said.

The Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA), Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, stated that operations across all entry points were at peak efficiency, reflecting the strength and resilience of the emirate’s travel and border management systems.

In an intervention on Al Oula Radio, Al Marri highlighted what was found during recent inspection tours of Dubai International Airport, the Hatta land border crossing and the Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Sector in Al Aweer. The visits were aimed at evaluating operational preparedness, improving performance and coordinating between relevant departments.

Integrated readiness drives stability

Seamless integration between air and land entry points, as well as sectors that follow them is a cornerstone of Dubai’s security and stability framework, Al Marri stressed.

Sustained investment in operational efficiency and institutional integration has also been instrumental in bolstering customer confidence and solidifying Dubai’s global competitiveness, he added.

Fielding operational systems “shows our determination to translate leadership directives into growth, sustainable services based on innovation and proactive methods,” he said. He added that balancing streamlined procedures while ensuring broad community protection is at the heart of such work.

Teamwork fuels high performance

Al Marri lauded the spirit of cooperation among all parties, indicating that such excellent performance has been achieved thanks to professionalism and institutional integration.

“Such initiatives reflect the UAE’s vision for global leadership and strengthen Dubai’s position as a model in quality of life and the excellence of government,” he added.

Fast, seamless airport experience

During his visit to Dubai International Airport, he inspected the passengers processing halls and travel flow systems there and commended the DHA's efficiency in handling huge numbers of visitors in accordance with the highest international standards.

Fast, seamless and integrated services substantially improve the overall travel experience of travellers, he added.

Smooth flow at land borders

At the Hatta border crossing, Al Marri reviewed arrival and departure halls, as well as external checkpoints, noting the flexibility of operations and smooth movement of travellers at land entry points.

Advanced systems for case management

The tour also encompassed the Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Sector in Al Aweer, where Al Marri was briefed on operations conducted at the shelter facility and mechanisms to manage residency violations as per accurate legal and regulatory frameworks that ensure community stability.

He also toured the operations room and digital systems used to monitor cases and manage reports, explaining that these technologies effectively aggravate the speed of response and accuracy in decision-making, as part of Dubai Government’s efforts to adopt advanced solutions aimed at improving institutional performance and operational efficiency.
