Missile debris falls in Abu Dhabi, Indian injured

The authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed an incident where debris fell in the Al Shawamekh area after interception of a ballistic missile by UAE’s air defence systems.

There was some injury to an Indian National in the incident, authorities said. Emergency teams arrived at the scene. Officials have advised the public to listen only to official sources for updates and not share speculation or incorrect information.

Al Shawamekh Overview Al Shawamekh is a residential area in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi which features spacious family villas and its low-density layout allows for secluded communities living away from the city life on the mainland.

On March 22, the UAE air defences intercepted four ballistic missiles and 25 UAVs launched from Iran. To date, UAE air defences have engaged 345 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,773 UAVs since the beginning of Iran attacks.

So far, the attacks have killed 2 soldiers and 6 civilians (whose nationalities include Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi and Palestinian). Injuries also include Emiratis as well as foreign nationals from several countries, with minor to serious injuries among 160 people affected in total.
