Four Bahrainis arrested for spying activities with Iran IRGC
The United States, Israel and Iran are entering their thirteenth day of warfare on the 12th of March, as four individuals- three men and one woman- were arrested in Bahrain for spying operations with IRGC (Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps).
In a statement, the ministry of interior for the Gulf country said that in addition to the four arrests, a fifth person identified as part of the spying scheme was at large abroad.
GCC countries have been targeted by Iran in numerous attacks since the war began on February 28, after US-Israeli strikes on the Islamic Republic that Israel claimed was 'preventative,' Iran says that its attacks on Gulf states are retaliatory and only target American assets in the region.
The espionage activities of those apprehended "were done through terrorist elements based in Iran", the Ministry in Bahrain added in the statement.
It also published photos of the four Bahrainis it had arrested and their names as follows:
Alhuzaifi/Ali Shokri Murtadha Hussain Awal (25 years old)
Ahmed Isa Al Haiki – 34 Years old
Sarah Abdulnabi Marhoon, aged 36
Salman Mirza (22 years old) Elias
The fifth person is Ali Mohammed Hassan Al Shaikh, a 25-year-old man who is abroad.
Investigations in the case also showed how the first person arrested had – on instructions from the group and with help from others – used high-resolution photography equipment to take pictures and record locations of important sites in Bahrain. “This information was then sent by encrypted software to the IRGC,” the Ministry added.
The four arrested have been referred to the Bahraini Public Prosecution as part of legal proceedings against their spying activities.
In a prior statement published separately, Bahraini authorities said that six people had been arrested over videos recording the aftermath of an Iranian attack on the Gulf state.
