Eid babies bring hope, joy to UAE families amid regional war

Away from the geopolitical tensions playing out in the background, moments of quiet joy are still happening within hospitals across the country. This Eid Al Fitr, the cries of newborns resonated hope and renewal with families having their own private reason to celebrate.

For many parents, the festival held even deeper significance as they brought new life into the world. Doctors say such moments are strong reminders of resilience, continuity and the enduring human spirit — even in uncertain times.

In Abu Dhabi and Dubai, maternity wards held emotional scenes as families celebrated both Eid and the births of their children. They also represented milestones for medical teams, whose births fused celebration with purpose.

Eid holds a deeper meaning

For Pakistani couple Saqib Rauf and Farah Diba Sakib, Eid this year is special. At the stroke of midnight on Eid day they welcomed the greatest gift of their life through their newborn baby at Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi. He is their second child, and weighed 3.44 kg.

Rauf recalled the moment: “This Eid will always stay close to our hearts. Welcoming our baby during this time feels uniquely special.

Moments like this put everything into perspective. We hope he comes to usher in better days for all.” The father said he’s very grateful and will do everything in his power to give his baby a bright future.

“It’s always such a rewarding experience to be part of moments like this. The arrival of a new life serves as a potent reminder of hope and permanence. When a baby is born on a day of celebration, it brings an additional meaning for family members and for us as caregivers. “We feel privileged to be a part of families during these important milestones and wish the baby good health and an enriching journey ahead,” said Dr Sailaja Vuppu, HOD & Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
As far as the families and medical staff here are concerned, this Eid al-Fitr will be etched in their memories as a season of fresh starts and bountiful blessings.

First child after eight years

Celebrating their first child after eight years of marriage, a Sri Lankan couple said that the joy would be double as they welcomed a baby girl in the early hours of Eid.

The healthy newborn was delivered at 2:55am on the day of Arafah, Dr Shizra Shahnawaz, specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, at Prime Hospital Dubai said. The mother’s pregnancy had been under close watch because of conditions known as pregnancy-induced hypertension and gestational diabetes, making the safe delivery even more meaningful for both family members and the medical team.

Dr Shizra Shahnawaz Specialist, OBGYN, Prime Hospital said, “On this blessed occasion of Eid both as a human being and as an obstetrician when I witness the miracles of the beginning of a new life it fills my heart with great gratitude and joy. As an obstetrician, every delivery is special, but there is something uniquely hopeful and renewing and blessed about a baby born on Eid.

“It is a reminder of the miracles that life brings and how new beginnings bring joy to families. It is such a privilege to be there for such a holy moment. “May the newborn and family enjoy a lifetime of health, love and many blessings.”

The father added that the timing of their baby's delivery on Eid makes it more special for them.

For Diluka Abeyrathna, the father, “It is a day full of joy, blessings and togetherness and our baby becomes a beautiful component of that.” We are extremely grateful to Dr Shizra, the entire Prime team, all of whom did their utmost to make our dream so beautiful and lovely,”

Indian parents Shubhang Bhattacharya, a marketing manager, and Anushree Bhattacharya, a designer welcomed their first-born son Swarag on the morning of March 20, 2026 at 7.54am (5). Born through emergency Caesarean section at Aster Hospital Mankhool weighing3.410kg

Shubhang expressed his delight, saying: “Overjoyed and elated to welcome our first-born child at Aster Hospital Mankhool on Eid Al Fitr. Thanks to all staff and well-wishers. Eid Mubarak.”

So it was for another family, and Eid took on even greater significance. A healthy baby boy was born at 12.25am at Thumbay University Hospital in Ajman, a real blessing for his family.

The baby born was 2.84kg and is the first child of its parents; Ayesha Pant, 31, an Indian national, and W. Rasanjana Srimantha Desilva, a Sri Lankan national aged 30.

Dr Shanthi performed the delivery at Thumbay University Hospital, where both mother and baby were safe and well.

It was an especially special day for the parents as it marked their first Eid as a family of three.

Expressing their happiness on this occasion, the dotting parents stated: “This Eid has gifted us our most precious gift of life. We couldn’t have dreamed of a more beautiful blessing. “It fills our hearts with gratitude and happiness to welcome our baby on such a special day. It really feels like the beginning of something beautiful.”
