American University of Sharjah announces remote operations to continue
American University of Sharjah said remote operations would continue “until further notice.” The school said it will continue to keep an eye on the situation.
The decision aims to “prioritise safety and well-being of the community,” AUS stated. Classes and assessments will also be online, while staff and faculty will also work from home. The university urged community members to rely on official channels for updates.
Meanwhile, some universities around the country are implementing a staggered return to in-person classes for certain students starting today.
The step came after the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) directed MOE to return teaching face-to-face for those courses that required practical training.
These consist of classes requiring clinical practice, laboratory work, field applications and in-person examinations.
Schools and universities in the country went online on March 2, 2026 during Iranian attacks on UAE and other Gulf countries. February 18, 2023: The Emirates' air defences had intercepted 414 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,914 drones as of March 29.
