As the year unfolds, it's always exciting to anticipate long weekends that provide an opportunity to escape the daily grind and embark on memorable adventures. In the UAE, 2023 brings with it several long weekends that can be cherished for relaxation, exploration, and quality time with loved ones.

In this blog, we'll delve into three prominent long weekends to look forward to and provide some ideas to help you make the most of your well-deserved breaks.

Eid Al Adha: From Tuesday, June 27, till Sunday, July 2

According to the Gregorian calendar, Eid Al Adha will be celebrated from Tuesday, June 27, till Sunday, July 2 (including the weekend). Hence, people will enjoy a six-day break during the Festival of Sacrifice.

Alternatively, explore the cultural heritage of Sharjah by visiting museums, art galleries, and traditional markets. Capture the essence of this joyous occasion by participating in local festivities and experiencing the vibrant atmosphere.

Hijri New Year

The next long break will be three days during the Hijri New Year. To mark the new Islamic year, the government announced that Friday, July 21, would be a public holiday, which means employees will have a three-day break, including a two-day weekend.

The Occasion of Prophet Mohammed's Birthday (PBUH)

The fourth – and the last – long break will be on Friday, September 29, 2023, on the occasion of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), giving employees in the country another three-day weekend.

UAE National Day

While the holidays for UAE National Day – celebrated on December 2 and 3, will be over the weekend.

UAE National Day is a momentous occasion that honors the unity, progress, and heritage of the country. This two-day weekend invites you to immerse yourself in the patriotic spirit and explore the cultural treasures of the UAE. Visit iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, or the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

As you eagerly anticipate the upcoming year, mark your calendars for these three long weekends in the UAE. Eid Al Fitr, Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha, and UAE National Day provide opportunities to embark on exciting journeys, relax in serene environments, and immerse yourself in the UAE's rich culture and heritage.
