Fifth seed Alexander Zverev spared three set focuses in a 16-minute opening set tiebreak during his straight sets triumph over French qualifier Jeremy Chardy, winning 7-6(13) 7-6(3) in one hour and 47 minutes.

World number one Novak Djokovic broadened his triumphant keep running in Asia when he walked around the last-16 of the Shanghai Masters with a 6-3 6-3 triumph over Canada's Denis Shapovalov on Wednesday.

The ATP Masters 1000 occasion is the Serb's second competition since a U.S. Open fourth round withdrawal because of shoulder damage and he landed in Shanghai in the wake of winning the Japan Open in Tokyo throughout the end of the week without dropping a set.

Djokovic, the guarding champion, broke the 20-year-old Canadian multiple times and never dropped serve, wrapping up the match in 70 minutes to set up a conflict with American John Isner, who beat Frenchman Lucas Pouille 7-5 6-3.

Austrian fourth seed Dominic Thiem, who won the China Open in Beijing at the end of the week, beat Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 7-6(3) 6-3 to set up a last-16 conflict with Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili.

After the opening set went with serve until the tiebreak, Thiem required just one break of serve in the second to progress.

Fifth seed Alexander Zverev spared three set focuses in a 16-minute opening set tiebreak during his straight sets triumph over French qualifier Jeremy Chardy, winning 7-6(13) 7-6(3) in one hour and 47 minutes.

Greece's 6th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas ended up as the winner in two tiebreaks to beat Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-6(3) 7-6(3) in their second round match.

"I realized it would have been intense, and it was extremely intense," Tsitsipas, who plays Poland's Hubert Hurkacz next, said.

"I think, generally, the focus that I have put and the work that I have placed into that match, despite everything I sensed that I needed to take care of a ton in to get that result toward the end."

The main three seeds Djokovic, Roger Federer and U.S. Open next in line Daniil Medvedev all play in the keep going 16 on Thursday.
