UAE: Football star Mohamed Salah inspires fans with his reading journey at SIBF

One of the most popular football icons of Mohamed Salah captivated large crowds of fans at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) who watched as he gave his audience a chance to see how a boy from Egypt struggled to become one of the most favorite sportsmen in the world.
During his speech, Salah spoke about reading books and how they have made him perceive life and success differently. ‘It’s not just one book, but many that have affected me,’ he told his audience numbering over thousands, while speaking to them at SIBF on the 43rd day of the expo last Sunday.
Salah noted, “My favorites are novels, because through novels, we believe that life is viewed from another side. They teach you and they bring you in contact with different societies.” Salah also reiterated the positiveness of learning about different aspects, as that knowledge develops sympathy and adds natural beauty which in this case is, the beauty of life.
Salah spends most of his good time reading books and added that he started loving reading books early in his career and also at the time when he joined the Chelsea club in 2014. “I wasn’t performing that well from the start. Therefore rather than charging for the events, I began looking for knowledge and learning what successful persons do,” he added. As such, this quest for knowledge became a source of inspiration in many developments of his life, where he started studying new things such as psychology and self-improvement.
He went on to explain how books have been a source of power and motivation for him as he has to deal with the intensity of playing elite sports. Culture, according to him, developed with time, so he asks his supporters to develop the habit of reading and experiencing book culture around the world.
The event attracted a wide range of spectators with fans of different national demographics waiting to see their football idol. The energy was at an all-time high with fans wearing Salah jerseys and chanting his name in admiration and support.
Having been born in Egypt Salah started his professional career at SC Al Mokawloon Al Arab then on the European side he played for FC Basel Chelsea AC Fiorentina AS Roma and then joined Liverpool FC in 2017.
Days later he achieved several milestones which include Premier League titles, UEFA Champions League, PFA Player of the Year, Golden Boots, a Playmaker of the season Award, and the Puskas Award.
