Dubai Reduces Peak Hour Travel Time by Up to 70% with New Bridges
The Bridges Built on the Garn Al Sabkha Street Intersection measures 1,265 meters and each of the two is comprised of 2 lanes
Dubai has emboldened measures to decongest its traffic with the recent installation of two new bridges on major roads. The infrastructure development will decrease the travel peak load cutting the peak hour travel time by about 70% on the two busiest routes in the city.
There are also several strategies undertaken to ensure that the recent population and vehicle growth in Dubai is met with the same expansion in the road networks. These bridges are built over important roundabouts on Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road – which are the city’s major links and commute routes for out-going and in-coming traffic, including commercial.
These bridges will reduce traffic that had built up on these routes for ages, according to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). New bridges are to ease traffic during peak hours. As per the estimations of the authority, the traveling time of the commuters would decrease to the extent of 70% in these critical periods which will enhance the travel experience.
Not only are the new bridges expected to improve travel, but they are also envisaged to improve the overall safety on the roads. With less gridlock and consequently less start-stop driving, the number of road accidents is anticipated to go down. The contraction of the bridges contains modern technology that seeks to enhance the expeditious movement of vehicles while creating a safe driving environment.
This project is included in the concepts of enhancement of transport infrastructure of Dubai and its further urban expansion. The administrations of the city of Dubai have also made it their business to promote projects and programs that improve connectivity and shorten the duration of any trip, in order to be the focal point of business, tourism, and trading.
Local communities and businesses have been pleased with the announcement, observing the benefits this will bring about in terms of daily movements and transportation. A number of people hope that this enhancement will also improve the quality of life as it will, among other things, reduce the time spent in traffic.
As a step towards development, the RTA of Dubai intends to keep financing projects aimed at managing traffic in Dubai to cope with the growth of Dubai. The completion of these bridges is also indicative of Dubai striving to think outside the box as far as urban development planning goes.
With the ongoing development of the transport network in Dubai, residents and visitors should expect more positive changes that will make the driving experience within the city more efficient, safe, and enjoyable.
