Dubai Parkin announces new parking system for Mall of the Emirates

From January 1st, 2025, the new system will be in place.

A new paid parking system will be put in place at three major shopping malls in Dubai including Mall of the Emirates (MoE), starting January 1, 2025, it was announced on Wednesday.

The public parking operator in the emirate Parkin Company in collaboration with the developer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Properties has launched ‘barrierless parking’ at MoE, City Centre Deira and City Centre Mirdif.

According to Parkin in a brief, mall parking rates would nevertheless remain the same during the five-year period.

How the new system will work

Thanks to the new Parkin’s barrier-less technology, guests will not be required to stop and wait at the entrance and exit of the car park of the malls.

Gas controlled perimeter surveillance systems with advanced cameras will also allow motorists to enter and leave the premises without requiring human intervention. Registered plates will be used to monitor the vehicle’s in and out activities and the time spent on the premises.

As the garage is entered, motorists get notified physically through SMS or Parkin app notifications about the likely cost of the parking space usage. They will settle all the applicable charges through the app or website.

The change is expected to relieve more than twenty million cars every year across all three sites from the difficulty in accessing malls by enhancing the experience of seamless entry and exit. The malls in question come with a total of 21,000 parking spaces.

“Smoother and less congested activities will ensure timely movement of vehicles within some of Dubai’s most crowded and popular Shopping areas,” said Parkin’s CEO Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali.

The company has been making efforts to extend its services on shopping malls, airports and other crowded properties under private ownership, it claimed earlier in this year. Surely, as most experts believe, soon such opportunity is going to be implemented.

This is not the first installment of a barrier-free parking garage in the emirate. A similar installation is available for paid parking services in some areas of Dubai Mall, but that facility is managed by Salik. This means that Dubai Mall parking charges appear to be automatically charged to the Salik customers’ accounts.
