As a first and last mile option, RailBus-- which was unveiled at the World Federal Governments Top (WGS) 2025 on Monday-- will have multiple stations/ hubs in densely inhabited neighborhoods across Dubai, a senior Roadways and Transport Authority (RTA) official said.

Malek Ramadan Mishmish, director of rail preparation and tasks development department at RTA, stated the function of RailBus is to serve communities not yet reached by Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram. "This suggests, there will be a RailBus network in the internal locations of Karama, Al Barsha or Deira which are not linked to Dubai Metro," he described.

"RailBus will have a different rail network within a specific location of the neighborhood. The automobiles, which are developed to be roomy with sufficient room for seating and standing, will get travelers from their neighbourhoods and bring them to the Metro," he added.

Mishmish also stated that the RailBus is created to run with very little noise. "This feature is especially beneficial in domestic communities since there will be reduced sound pollution," said the RTA official.

RTA is aiming to finish the technical and expediency studies for the RailBus in the next two to three years.

"RTA came up with the idea of RailBus-- that integrates the features of a rail and bus-- to accommodate the requirements of the riding public. We are combining rail features and the benefit of a bus. RailBus will help commuters reach their location, especially in areas where we have tight corridors and where the existing Metro can not reach yet," he included.

Like the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram, RailBus-- which will operate on solar power-- will likewise be driverless. However it is more cost-effective than building Dubai Metro or Tram, kept in mind Mishmish.

RailBus will be 3D printed utilizing recycled materials. The model displayed at WGS possesses a futuristic design-- smooth and modern-day-- that is optimised for urban landscapes, added Mishmish, who kept in mind the aerodynamic style decreases energy consumption while making sure traveler convenience.

The capsule-like car is 11.5 metres in length, 2.65 m large and 2.9 m tall. It will run on elevated tracks that are designed to abide by global rail standards. RailBus can run up to 100 kmph and bring approximately 40 travelers (24 seated and 16 standing). Since it is 3D-printed, RailBus will only weigh 8 tonnes without travelers.
