A resident of Dubai is now facing a alleged rape charge after a female American tourist levelled charges of a sexual assault in a hotel room.

However, the 29-year-old Moroccan suspect has denied all the charges at the Court of First Instance and claimed that they had consensual sex.

The aforementioned incident took place on December 21, last year and a complaint was lodged at the Al Barsha police station.

According to the complainant, who is a 24-year-old American, but is of Arab origin, she met the man on the flight to Dubai.

Recollecting the meeting she said: "He introduced me to his accomplice as his cousin. I told him about the hotel in Dubai Marina I was going to stay during my three-day vacation. I invited him over to my hotel room and he said he would bring his cousin along. We all got drunk."

She also told the prosecutors that she accompanied him to the bedroom for the sole purpose of recharging his phone when she was suddenly punched on her phone which led to her losing conscience.

And when she finally woke up she realised that she had been raped.

This incident was immediately reported to the security guard when she marched down to the lobby. She also claimed that she was robbed of Dh5,550 and a pair of earrings and also her passport.

According the Khaleej Times, the night manager also said that he was called by the receptionist: "I came to know from the night operation manager at the hotel that a hotel guest had complained that two men had raped her."

He also added that when he made his way to the reception, he found all the three people drunk.

"The woman told me that she was raped and assaulted. The police arrived shortly," he added.

The forensic examiner issued a statement which said that bruises and scratches were quite visible on the body and the fluids on her body was a perfect match to the accused.

A police sergeant also said that he was briefed about the incident both by the manager and the lady.
