Sharjah kicks off new reading campaign for schools

The marketing campaign might be running for two days in every campus.


To encourage the youngsters to make reading a lifelong haabit, the Sharjah World Book Capital (SWBC) Office on Wednesday launched its 'Book Friendly Schools' marketing campaign, a two-month sociocultural drive concentrated on 30 colleges throughout the emirate.

A mini e book fair; workshops on art, crafts and culture; interactive reading sessions; and 50 book giveaways marked the kickoff event at the Um Roman Girls School for Basic Education on Wednesday. It turned into held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE), Sharjah Education Council (SEC), and Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA).

The same activities may be organised in all different participating colleges, with the marketing campaign going for walks for two days in each campus.

"The 'Book Friendly Schools' campaign is based on one of the key pillars of SWBC's year-long birthday celebration programme: Promoting books as the vital supply of knowledge," said Marwa Al Aqroubi, assignment supervisor of SWBC 2019.

"Through this campaign, SWBC seeks to boost the intellectual competencies of the young generation and help them form a lifelong attachment to the practice of studying, to be able to allow them to maintain enriching their lives with knowledge and be influential sellers of superb exchange of their communities."
