Dubai's Burj Khalifa lights up in red and white for Canada Day

Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, was lit up in red and white on Monday night to mark Canada Day.

Hundreds of people gathered to take photos of a projection of the Candian flag with its distinctive maple leaf symbol.

Earlier, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed sent a message of congratulations to Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada.

Similar greetings were sent by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed dispatched similar messages to Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada.
