Dubai announces school timings for Ramadan

Dubai: With around two weeks for Ramadan to start, government entities and organisations are already getting ready to adjust their work hours.The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai has confirmed that students will attend up to five hours of classes during Ramadan.

According to a circular issued by the KHDA, schools will start between 8am and 8.30am and end between 1pm and 1.30pm, with shorter breaks during the day.

Following the customary rules of the Ramadan school schedule, schools have also been instructed to stop carrying out physical exercise (PE) classes or any other demanding physical activities during Ramadan.

Furthermore, students are also exempted from doing outdoor activities that may expose them to heat, in order to avoid the risk of exhaustion and dehydration. Government departments will also have their work hours reduced during Ramadan, with timings slashed by two hours.According to the UAE Federal Authority For Government Human Resources (FAHR), government employees will work from 9am to 2pm.
