Nightmarish flight in Hollywood flick 'Snakes on a Plane' came almost true for passengers of a Canadian airline plane - just that it was 'bugs on the plane' for them.

Air Transat flight TS177 was delayed for over 24 hours after its scheduled take off from London to Vancouver was aborted after bug infestation was discovered, reported MSN. One passenger, Jenna Sullivan, tweeted that a bug "fell from the ceiling" to land on the seat next to her. While footage captured by another passenger, Kristin Neilsen, shows cabin crew spraying insecticide inside the cabin in an attempt to get rid of the bugs.

Passengers were deboarded so the aircraft could be fumigated before it could take off for the 10-hour journey. Several passengers took to Twitter to vent their ire over a day's delay.

A spokesperson for Air Transat said: "We are sorry for the delay to our flight to Vancouver which was due to the need to fumigate the aircraft. Passengers were provided with hotel accommodation and meals, and we regret any inconvenience caused by the delay to their journey."

In a similar incident this month, passengers on a United Airlines flight discovered ants infestation just when the plane from Venice, Italy, to Newark, New Jersey was still taxiing on the runway.
